King Ink Comics at RSR!

Hey gang,  my first Raven's themed strip has landed over at Russell Street Report, and I'm excited to share!

Torry Smith gets his #1!

A little backstory on this;  the player, Torrey Smith, is up for a new contract, and there's a lot of speculation as to whether the Ravens can afford to keep this former 1st Round draft pick.  There's also been some criticism of lack of development since being drafted.  Personally, I love the guy.  He's a great person off the field, and Torrey is always there for the Ravens.  I hope he comes back next year.

Hey gang, be a pal and share this with all the cool people in your life. Thanks!

The Red Devil

I've been working in color a lot lately, more so than I'm really comfortable with, but I'm really enjoying the results.  With this piece, I put down a base of rose-orange, applied a pass or two of yellow, and finished the piece with a spot layer of cardinal red, to give the piece more depth of color.  I started using acrylic transparent inks lately, and acrylic ink for the black inkwork.  I'm really happy with the way the ink sets and dries (as opposed to trying to use watercolors) and I feel like with a little more practice it'll be easy enough to envision tackling a full color interior comic project without worrying.

DC Conspiracy 10 year Anniversary!

For the past ten years I've been a member of the D.C. Conspiracy Group, an indie comics collective.  What started as a small group of creators meeting monthly for drinks and to compare our work grew to a very productive co-op responsible for a number of quality comics and activities.  The D.C. Conspiracy collaborators birthed the D.C. Counter Culture Festival, Trickster, Red Cross charity efforts, District Comics, The Magic Bullet, countless collaborative comic books, and most recently the cartoons for HealthCare.gov.

To put it lightly, I've always felt fortunate to call any of those members my friends.  There's been some really talented writers, artists, and editors to join the group.  It's been great watching everyone else's abilities develop, while being able to find work has helped me grow as an artist.  I cannot say more about this fantastic institution!

This weekend there's a 10 year Anniversary bash.  I wish I could go.  Cheers!
